Today, a local wildlife center received an urgent call about a baby monkey in distress. The young primate, named Victor, was suffering from severe malnutrition, a situation exacerbated by his mother, Viola, the mom who gave birth to her second baby, struggling to provide sufficient nourishment. As Victor's health declined, he became increasingly weak, and tragically, he lost the ability to use his back legs, making it difficult for him to cling to Viola. Witnesses described a harrowing moment when he nearly fell from her chest as she moved.

In a swift response, the center’s team successfully rescued Victor, bringing him in for immediate care. Upon arrival, veterinary staff quickly administered water and milk before conducting a thorough examination. It was clear that Victor had not received adequate nutrition for over a week, as evidenced by his swollen, tender stomach and several scratches across his body and tail—likely the result of his desperate attempts to hold on while his mother moved.

While his upper body shows signs of functionality, Victor's waist and back legs remain paralyzed, a condition directly linked to his lack of essential nutrients critical for healthy growth. Malnutrition poses serious risks, including impaired nerve function and muscle health, which can hinder mobility. Other factors, such as infections or spinal injuries, may also contribute to his condition.

Since arriving at the center, Victor has remained quiet, spending most of his time in a deep sleep. The dedicated staff is providing round-the-clock care, including nutritious milk, vitamins, and hydration. At this point, it remains uncertain whether Victor's mobility will return, or if the damage is irreversible. He is currently too fragile for X-rays or further diagnostics, but the team remains hopeful for positive developments as he regains strength. The center's commitment to Victor's recovery continues, with the ultimate goal of reuniting him with his mother when he is ready.
