Bayon Temple, November 2020 – Tom, a male pigtail macaque, was once a beloved pet but found himself abandoned and alone. After a period of adjustment to his new surroundings, concerns arose when cameramen observed that Tom was struggling to use his right arm and had developed a black eye. The cause of Tom's injuries remained a mystery, prompting the Wildlife Conservation and Protection Organization (NGO) to intervene. On December 22, 2020, the organization successfully rescued the injured macaque. Following his rescue, Tom underwent a thorough examination by the NGO's staff veterinarian, who discovered he had a broken wrist through x-ray imaging.

Surgery was performed on December 26, 2020, during which a rod was inserted into Tom's arm to aid in the healing process. The operation was deemed successful, and recent reports indicate that Tom's bone is healing effectively. Now, after months of rehabilitation, the NGO is thrilled to announce that Tom has fully recovered and is ready for release back into the wild. "Tom has been with us for quite some time, and while we will miss him dearly, we are incredibly happy that he will have the opportunity to thrive in his natural habitat," said a representative from the NGO.

As Tom prepares to return to Bayon Temple, where he was initially found, the organization reflects on the community's support throughout this rescue mission. "We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the donors who made this rescue possible. Your contributions have had a significant impact on Tom’s recovery and future," the representative added.

With a hopeful spirit, the NGO wishes Tom a safe journey as he embarks on this new chapter of his life in the wild.
